Offering 5 day bow hunts, 3 and 4 day firearm
/ muzzle loader hunts on private land in Brown, Pike, and Schuyler
counties. Illinois Connection has arguably been the most
successful outfitter from 2001 through 2009. Unlike most outfitters, we
operate seven weeks out of the entire season. Primarily beginning in mid
to late October and ending with the late muzzle loader hunt in December.
We offer pre rut, rut, and post rut hunts.
This year we will offer a limited hunt October 1st
through 5th. Otherwise the rest of our hunts will begin and
end as they have for nine years. Offering exciting archery and firearm
hunts with the inclusion of lodging, meals, guides, stands, game
preparation, and the hunt of a life time. We also have an easy payment plan throughout the year to help with financial needs.
Our hunting package includes home cooked meals and elaborate lodging with custom
interiors, large bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, double washer and dryers, large
deck with a wonderful scenic view of the Illinois farmland countryside,
separate equipment room away from any foreign smells, internet access,
pool table, open bar, etc. To say the least, we have anything the
hunter needs and or could think of.
Our management practices involved the use of over 15,000 acres. Our acreage is
enhanced with numerous food plots offering standing corn, standing soy
beans, cut crops, whitetail select, 9 types of clover, alfalfa,
biologic, buck forage oats, and other brassicas and legumes. At
Illinois Connection, our trophy minimum is 130 inches and on several
of our larger tracks we carry a 150 inch minimum. Bucks are considered
shooters when they have a minimum of 8 points or better, spread will be
outside the ears with good tine length that usually falls into the P&Y
130 class as a minimum. We have over 700 stand sites at any given week
for our hunters use. (Lock on stands and ladder stands)
Most stands are approximately 16-24 feet high using easy
climb steps or stick ladders to allow one to climb safely and
efficiently. At Illinois Connection we use Non-Typical, Lone
Wolf, Summit, Gorilla, and North Star lock-ons. Our ladder stands are Millenniums. Our stands are large and meet
and/or exceed stand weight requirements. One thing contributing to our
success is all of our farms are foot travel only. The only 4 wheeler usages are for
harvesting or retrieving game, stand movement or the client’s first
arrival to show farms. Otherwise, 4 wheelers are strictly
forbidden.
The ground that you will be hunting is privately owned and
operated. The farms are located in
the Mid-West portion of the state of with rolling hills and acres of
beautiful hardwoods. Most of the stand placement will be located in or
around great sources of agriculture with a rotation of corn, soybeans,
alfalfa, food plots, and winter wheat. Other stands will be in natural
funnels, creek drainages, bottle necks, and ground in the CRP program.
Our shot chance was over 75% and success ratio 30% for 2009.
Our average success ratio has been above 30% for nine years straight.
Our farms in operation offer excellent opportunities for that once of a
life time buck.
The success ratio is misleading with some 11 bucks missed, 14
wounded, 57 passed (130 minimum), and 52 harvested in 2009. Monster
bucks have been seen lately and we are looking forward to offering you
possibly the hunt of a lifetime.
